On and Off Again

It looks like we might finally have found a place to live.  Good thing, too, since we’re supposed to be out of our current location by the end of the week.
So, for the next 2 to 3 weeks, my posting and crafting will be on and off again.  Please bear with me.  As soon as we’re moved, and have internet, I plan on posting, crafting and selling like crazy.
Stay tuned….

Latest Project and Free Pattern

I have just finished a new pattern, a Tarot Spread Cloth.  I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Things Are Looking Brighter

Things definitely have a brighter outlook right now.
We received the insurance money we've been waiting on and have some leads as to new apartments.
I found some of my crocheting supplies and have been able to do a little crafting to pass the time.  I'm almost done with a tarot spread cloth and will post the finished result with a link to the free pattern as soon as I'm finished.
Once we're settled, I can look for work and get back to some kind of routine.  This sitting around and waiting just doesn't work for me.

I Will Get There

Right now I know my posts are a bit haphazard.  Once I’m moved and have started a job, I plan on getting them a bit more regular.
My plan is to post 4 times a week, the days to be determined once I start working.  Each day will have a certain type of topic:
1) Things happening in my life or talking about something personal I’m crafting.
2) Free Patterns!
3) My Pagan studies or some Pagan topic
4) Any new items in my store or something just for fun.
Please stay tuned for more posts!

Breathe Easier

Yesterday, July 13th,  we went through the frightening walkthrough, hoping against hope it went well.  Thankfully, the landlady found nothing wrong with the rental house we’re in right now, so we can breathe easier.  We also received my mother’s ashes Wednesday, and her death certificates Saturday.  While these came with hard emotions, it also means we should be receiving her insurance money within the next few days, which we’ve desperately been needing.
As a small, and cheap, way to celebrate the good news, we took a short trip to nearby Ventura Beach, enjoying the fact that we’re near the ocean again.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a good picture of the pod of dolphins we saw swimming around.

We still have a lot of hardship and struggles to come, but are thankful we’re together.

Life: A Short Story

In August of last year, my mother was diagnosed with Advanced Small Cell Lung Cancer.  The doctors gave her to Christmas, maybe.  She proved them wrong and stayed with us until June of this year.
I miss her terribly, but she wanted our family to go on, and that is what we’re trying to do.  Of course, life has a way of making it interesting.
We lived in Reno, NV because my mom wanted to be there.  Once she was gone, it didn’t feel like home anymore.  We decided to move back to Southern California.  My sister’s fiance, who had also just recently lost his mother, bravely said he would be glad to carry us until we found jobs.  Then everything went crazy.
After quitting my full time job that I had been at for over 6 years and our family (my sister and my 18 year old daughter) moved in with my sis’s fiance, we got some troubling news.  Since the lease was in his mother’s name, the landlady gave him notice.  Also, since it’s a house he’s renting, and the $1500 deposit was originally waived “in good faith”, if we don’t pass the walkthrough tomorrow, we might have to somehow come up with that $1500 immediately.
Now, we have to find a place to live by the 1st of August.  We can’t even look for jobs until then, since we aren’t sure exactly where we’ll end up.  And the kicker?  We can’t even start trying for anywhere because we still haven’t received the insurance money we were depending on.
I had decided already that I was going to start crafting like crazy again, since that fell by the wayside while my mom was sick, and start selling online to try to make some extra income.  At the moment, though, all I’ve been able to do is set up all the online stuff because all my crafting supplies are still in boxes.  Speaking of which, in the future I’m thinking of getting a specialized crafting accounting software called Craft Maker Pro.  Has anyone used it?  Is it worth the price?
I did, regretfully, post an item in my store for donations to help us out.  I really hate asking for help that way, but we’re a little desperate.  Here is the link, if you’d like to help.:

So, as of today, July 12th, we have practically no money, haven’t got a place to live as of the 1st, and only one out of four of us has a job.
Yet, even with all these problems and setbacks, it still feels like we made the right decision.  It’s just proving harder to do than we thought.
